When Your Own Needs Get Pushed Aside
If you are used to being the dependable one at work or at home, asking for help can feel unfamiliar. You may notice signs of strain before you have words for them: trouble sleeping, irritability, less patience, a sense of dread at the start of the week or a feeling that you are running on empty.
Counseling does not require a crisis. It can be a place to sort through what you are carrying, understand how stress is affecting you and consider changes that feel realistic. For some people, simply having protected time to think out loud is part of the value.
Concerns Adults May Bring to Counseling
Whatever brings you in, you are more than the concern on your mind, and the strengths you already rely on can be part of the work. Counseling for adults at Infinity can address many kinds of concerns, including:
- 01Anxiety and worry that are hard to switch off
- 02Depression, low mood or loss of interest
- 03Stress and burnout at work or at home
- 04Trauma and its lingering effects
- 05Grief and loss
- 06Relationship concerns
- 07Life transitions, such as a new role, a move or a change in health
Personalized Care, Different Approaches
Personalized care starts with listening to your history, your priorities and the pressures you face right now. From there, you and your clinician can set goals that are meaningful to you and revisit them as circumstances change.
Approaches vary by clinician. Tia Davis, MSW, LSW, takes a trauma-informed, strengths-based and person-centered approach. Nicole Reagan, LSW, draws on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, solution-focused approaches, supportive counseling and strengths-based interventions, with an emphasis on collaboration and practical strategies. You can learn more about each clinician on the Our Team page.
In Person or by Telehealth
Infinity’s office is in Crown Point, Indiana. Telehealth may also be an option, depending on the clinician and where you are located during sessions. Some adults find telehealth easier to fit around work and family responsibilities, while others prefer the separation that comes with meeting in an office. The team can explain current options, and the Telehealth Counseling page offers tips for preparing.
Insurance and Getting Started
Infinity accepts a number of Indiana and Illinois insurance plans, which are listed on the Insurance & Coverage page. Confirm your specific plan and benefits with the office and with your insurer before your first appointment, and if you do not see your plan, please contact the office.
To begin, call (219) 472-8277 or send an appointment request through the Contact page. You do not need a complete explanation of what you are going through; the first conversation is a chance to describe what brings you in and ask your own questions.
